DS AUTOMOBILES, AN OFFICIAL PARTNER OF CHANTILLY ARTS & ÉLÉGANCE RICHARD MILLE
DS Automobiles participated once again in the Chantilly Arts & Élégance Richard Mille, on Sunday, 6 September, however this time as an official partner of this exceptional event highlighting Automobiles and Elegance and the Art of Living à la française in a “Sunday in the Countryside” atmosphere.
HONOURING THE HERITAGE AND FUTURE OF DS AUTOMOBILES
DS Automobiles took part in two of the day’s events:
• The Concours d’État ‘The Most Beautiful Cars in the World’ with an exclusive presentation of a classic DS and an SM with special bodywork. The official DS of President Charles de Gaulle and the DS Ronde de Chamonix both competing for the prize in this category, which pays tribute to these two models and their owners, who have taken such devoted care of them. The DS and SM are two cars that left their mark on the automotive world during their era and helped make French know-how renowned the world over.
• The Concours d’Élégance presented the concept car NUMÉRO 9 with a fashion model by its side who wore a dress by the French designer Eymeric François. Created in Paris, the birthplace of DS Automobiles and the capital of fashion and refinement, NUMÉRO 9 revisits the shooting brake design, one of the most prestigious styles in automotive history. The DS Automobiles touch is apparent in the floating roof, underlined by a chrome-finished signature on which the DS Automobiles monogram discretely appears, and side windows that flow rearwards into the tailgate. Its body colour, a deep black with a hint of violet called Whisper, and the “California” chrome trim with its slightly warm tone, give NUMÉRO 9 a mysterious and sophisticated air. To reflect and enhance the stylishness of NUMÉRO 9 during the Concours d’Élégance, DS Automobiles teamed up with the French fashion designer Eymeric François. The top model alongside the Concept Car wore a pencil dress trimmed with leather stripes ornaments, from his “Vampires Coutures” collection.
CELEBRATING THE 60TH ANNIVERSARY OF DS AUTOMOBILES AT CHANTILLY
This second edition of Chantilly Arts & Élégance Richard Mille also gave DS Automobiles an opportunity to continue the festivities in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the original 1955 DS model. On the grounds of the Domaine de Chantilly, not far from the Château, there showcased an exhibition linking the story of this “grande dame” of French automotive history with DS Automobiles today. Containing rarely shown drawings and models from the Citroën Conservatory that delighted devotees of the DS. Visitors were able to admire “l’Hippopotame”, the very first model of the DS built in 1949, or the “Ovni” model introduced at the Grand Palais in 1955 during Paris Motor Show.
Thanks to the valuable support of the collectors and the club SM Club de France, over 20 classic DS models were on display alongside cars in the current DS Automobiles range.
