The Citroën C-Airlounge Is Concept Car Of The Year

The innovative Citroën C-Airlounge, which made its debut at the Frankfurt International Motor Show in September, has been crowned 'Concept Car of the Year' and its designer elected 'Car Designer of the Year' by leading European motoring and motor industry magazine Autocar.

The Citroën C-Airlounge was praised for its highly advanced aerodynamics, such as blade vortex generators, which provide it with a drag coefficient of just 0.26, as well as an ingenious interior lighting system that uses fibre optics and projectors to bathe the interior in a range of mood-setting light effects. The C-Airlounge's designer, Mark Lloyd collected the 'Car Designer of the Year' not just the C-Airlounge but also for its predecessors, the Citroën C-Crosser and C-Airdream.

Making their award presentations, Autocar's judges commented that, "The Citroën C-Airlounge brings a refreshing dynamism to the two box form, explores new technologies and makes an important point about the poor visibility offered by most modern cars. More dramatically it pioneers a whole new way of creating cabin ambiance. This car signals a colourful future for one of Europe's most historic marques."
